 Royal York Massage Therapy was first started in 2002 by Gina Tsiapalis and Henry Janzen. Gina and Henry are the owners of the clinic and partners in life. Since the birth of their son (Hansel Cristo) in December 2005, Gina has enjoyed her new role as a mom and in January 2007 will return to Ryerson University to complete her Midwifery degree. The Royal York Massage Therapy family consists of three Massage Therapists: Henry Janzen, Gregory Saliba and Alexandra Sestoperov. Henry Janzen is a 2000 graduate of Sutherland-Chan Massage Therapy School. In addition to his Massage Therapy education, Henry has completed a Bachelor of Theology degree at the Canadian Mennonite Bible College in Winnipeg and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Waterloo. Henry is a treatment oriented therapist who has experience in a variety of areas including athletic injuries, posture based care and motor vehicle accidents. Known as an active lifelong learner, Henry continues to add to his techniques and understanding in order to continue improving the care of his clients. He has training in N.I.S.A techniques, Myofascial Release Therapy (a.k.a. Strain CounterStrain), Muscle Energy and Craniosacral Therapy and is currently studying at the Canadian College of Osteopathy in Toronto. Henry's next en devour is teaching Anatomy and Physiology at Humber College.
Alexandra Sestoperov is the most recent therapist at the clinic, starting with us in 2005. She is a 2005 graduate of ICT Kikkawa College of Massage Therapy school in Toronto. In addition, Alexandra has completed several other courses such as Sports Massage, Taping Injuries and Myofascial Approarch to Postural Dysfunctions. Alexandra's holistic approarch to Massage Therapy allows her to address client symptoms in relation to their overall postural imbalances. Her training at the ICT Kikkawa clinic has prepared her to treat various conditions ranging from tendonitis, scoliosis, arthritis, sciatica, carpel tunnel syndrome, stress and chronic pain. Her experience working with clients in all three stages of pregnancy, motor vehicle accidents, as well as working with clients at Sunnybrook Hospital and Variety Village with Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson's Disease has enhanced her skill level and prepared her to work independently. Gregory Saliba became a member of the Royal York Massage Therapy family in late 2004. Gregory is a 2004 graduate from Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy and Teaching Clinic. Gregory brings experience working with various communities and conditions. He has worked with people with Multiple Sclerosis, people with developmental delays, senior citizens, people with AIDS, as well as athletes both professional and weekend warriors. His training has prepared him to work with various conditions such as carpel tunnel, pregnancy, TMJ, tendonitis and most importantly help people with stress. Combining knowledge and treatment skills with intuitive sensitivity, Gregory brings a direct approach and a philosophy of empowering clients in their healing process. Gregory's practice through the past year has solidified his belief that Massage Therapy can increase body awareness and allow an opportunity to enjoy optimal health. Nancy Alder, Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) As a Registered Massage Therapist, Nancy has been fortunate to work in a number of multidisciplinary clinics allowing her to learn a wide variety of skills. She joined Royal York Massage Therapy team in 2007 focusing in postural and injury rehabilitation as well as stress management. Nancy has been studying osteopathy, including cranial osteopathy, part-time at the Canadian College of Osteopathy. Vanessa Lees After graduating with an Honours BA in Psychology from the University of Western Ontario, Vanessa went on to the Transformational Arts College to study Holisitic Health and is a Certified Natural Health Practitioner. She has been practicing Holistic Healing since 2001. Her treatments are based on the needs of each individual client and include modalities such as aromatherapy massage using pure essential oils, reiki or shen (forms of energy therapies), and reflexology. There are many other modalities which she pulls from such as visualization and meditation techniques, and even body-centered energetic psychotherapy. She has worked at various spas in and around Toronto. Vanessa's extensive training combined with her compassion and sensitivity allow people to experience relief from stress, a decrease in pain levels, and a deep sense of healing. Vanessa is also a certified Personal Trainer, Fitness Instructor and Yoga teacher. She teaches yoga and various fitness classes in the GTA.
